Manchester City forward Darius Vassell is facing at least two weeks on the sidelines because of knee ligament damage.

The 26-year-old, who has been used in an unfamiliar left wing role this term, suffered the injury during the surprise 1-0 home win against Arsenal on August 26.

City boss Stuart Pearce told the club's official website: "Vass will be out for at least a fortnight.

"It's a blow but one of those things you have to expect during the season.

"He is at home resting at the minute and we hope that the injury will not require surgery."
