Manchester City striker Darius Vassell is confident of being back in action sooner than expected as he battles back from a knee injury.
The 26-year-old England international has been out for around a month and had been expected to be out for another two, but Vassell now hopes to return by the end of October.
He told the club's official website: "I'm recovering quite well.
"It's disappointing to have picked up the injury, but I've got good staff around me getting me fit as soon as possible.
"It is looking good and I think in the next three or four weeks I'll be back playing hopefully and scoring goals.
"They said at least six weeks with my injury, so I went to see the specialist and he confirmed it, but said it can be up to 12 weeks.
"It's not as bad as we first thought, so I'm quite pleased I'm not going to be out for as long as was first feared.
"If you come back too soon it's almost certainly going to go again. It's one of those where if you go into the tackle it will go again if it's not strong enough.
"But I've been working well and it's been going well in the gym and I'm looking forward to getting back."
