United's Nightmare is City's dreamland
You simply could not have written the script. The sack Moyes campaign is beginning to get some momentum now as the records are being re-written for all the wrong reasons as far as David Moyes is concerned.
You still have to fancy Manchester United to come through their second leg Coca Cola Cup semi-final and over-turning a 2-1 deficit, but looking beyond that their fans will not be looking forward to meeting their arch rivals City in a Wembley showdown.
Manchester City were only one goal away from being in seventh heaven against a woeful West Ham. You must feel for the West Ham fans who travelled in big numbers to both the City ground and the Etihad only to see 11 goals hammered past the hapless Jussi Jääskeläinen without reply. Sam Alladyce has only just been given the dreaded vote of confidence by David Sullivan and this latest drubbing will test that to the max.
United have somehow managed to lose their first three games of 2014. The last time they lost their opening three games of a calendar year was 82 years ago. Not even Sir Alex or Bobby Charlton was born then. In stark comparison Manuel Pelegrini must be thinking this management malarkey is a piece of cake as his side score goals for fun at home.
I will close by saying that City may well be favourites for the league now – in fact they will be favourites for three of the four trophies that they are still involved in however, the Premier League is far from being a level playing field. The sooner FIFA’s fair play comes into effect the better this will be for everyone.
