Under-fire Hughes is sure he remains part of Man City's long-term plans

Mark Hughes claims a get-together with Manchester City chief executives this week proves the club want him to stay and build a Barclays Premier League-winning team at Eastlands. Hughes' position as manager has been under constant scrutiny since City were takeover by the mega-rich Abu Dhabi United Group in August. The Welshman has been under pressure to deliver in his first season in charge but City looked poised to finish in a mid-table position. 'The way the club's set up now in terms of its structure and thepeople in key positions means that City can only get better and bedriven forward at pace,' said Hughes. 'I was very encouraged by what I heard at the get-together and theplans and structures that are in place for the club for the future thatwill ensure that when success comes - and it will do - it will be for along time. 'I am part of the team that will drive this club forward and it is up to us to make sure that we are successful.
