Manchester City are close to finalising a deal to sign Tunisian World Cup star Hatem Trabelsi.
The right-back, 29, is available on a Bosman free transfer following the expiry of his contract with Ajax and opened talks with City earlier in the week.
Negotiations have gone well and Blues boss Stuart Pearce hopes to confirm the deal on Thursday.
"He has a couple of medical tests still remaining but we should have permanent news on him later on," said Pearce.
Meanwhile, City are believed to be lining up a bid for Rennes' Sweden international goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson after David James confirmed that he wants to leave Eastlands.
