Toure set for City medical
29 Jul 2009 - 10:52:45
Ivory Coast international Kolo Toure is on the verge of completing his £14million transfer from Arsenal to Manchester City.
The defender left the Gunners' training camp in Austria on Tuesday and is expected to have a medical at Eastlands on Wednesday,
The 28-year-old has spent more than seven years with the Gunners and has racked up well over 300 first-team appearances for the club.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said on Tuesday: "We'll see what's happening in the next 24 hours, nothing is decided yet.
"We have seven centre-backs and I'm in the position where I have to play some in midfield, but of course Kolo is a very good player and we will see what will happen in the next 24 hours."
Meanwhile, reports suggest Mark Hughes will step up his attempts to sell several more players before the start of the new season.
Elano is being linked with Internazionale and Panathinaikos while Benjani and Valeri Bojinov could be heading to Portsmouth and Lazio respectively.
Hughes has already managed to let Jo, Joe Hart, Shaleum Logan and Felipe Caicedo leave Eastlands on loan while Ched Evans has joined Sheffield United, Daniel Sturridge has moved to Chelsea and Gelson Fernandes has signed for St Etienne.
