    Tevez lured by City ambition

    14 Jul 2009 - 16:51:01

Carlos Tevez claims the ambition of Manchester City to become one of biggest clubs in the world persuaded him to move to Eastlands.

Tevez is the latest player to join the ambitious Citizens this summer on a five-year contract after rejecting the chance to make his loan deal with city rivals Manchester United into a permanent contract.

After swapping the guarantee of challenging for honours with United for a club with lofty ambitions, the motives of the 25-year-old Argentina striker have been questioned.

But Tevez has denied moving to the City of Manchester Stadium for financial reasons.

"City came with a very good proposal and ambition to become one of the biggest clubs in the world," he claimed.

"It was an easy decision and I am happy to be here."

The striker went on to suggest that United did not do enough to persuade him to stay at Old Trafford.

He has also questioned manager Sir Alex Ferguson's claim that he unsuccessfully tried to contact Tevez on several occasions earlier in the summer.

"I was there for two years and Sir Alex never called or sent any text messages in that time," he claimed.

"The only time he talked to me was after a match against Roma to discuss a situation about going to play for Argentina.

"It doesn't seem that this is the way to treat a player in two years at the club. It doesn't seem there is a line of communication."

Meanwhile, City boss Mark Hughes claims the deal to sign Tevez - reported to be in the region of £25million - represents value for money.

"For Manchester City, Tevez is good value for money," Hughes added.

"To be able to bring one of the top strikers in world football is fantastic for the club, the fans and everyone linked to the club."
