Tevez backed to return

Carlos Tevez's advisor claims the absent striker is likely to be back in the Manchester City fold in time to play against Chelsea on Saturday.

Tevez has missed City's last three games after returning to Argentina following the premature birth of his second child.

Speaking after Sunday's goalless draw with Liverpool, manager Roberto Martinez admitted he had no idea when his club's 19-goal striker would be back at Eastlands.

However, Tevez's advisor, Kia Joorabchian, claims the Argentina international is hoping to be back in advance of Saturday's trip to Stamford Bridge.

"The club have been informed on a daily basis," he told Sky Sports News. "Carlos Tevez has given 100 per cent to the club since the day he arrived.

"When your child is in intensive care it's a very serious matter.

"He hopes to be back for the Chelsea game. He hopes things will get better, for his daughter's sake and because he wants to get back and play. He loves to play.

"When these things happen you have to deal with them.

"Obviously he's having to go through a very difficult period but he's dealt with them before and will continue to do so."
