Manchester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has confirmed that the club are already in negotiations over extending England defender Micah Richards' contract with the club.
The 19-year-old has started the season in superb form for City at centre-half, before impressing for his country at right-back against Germany.
Eriksson commented: "I am not sure about Micah's contract, but I know there are some talks taking place. This club will do everything possible to keep a player like that.
"It will be very bad to sell him and we have absolutely no intention of doing so.
"He is a good boy, not only on the pitch, but in the dressing room as well.
"It is in his character to laugh, which is good to see, so I don't think I need to tell him to keep his feet on the ground.
"I spoke to Steve McClaren about playing Micah at centre-back, because I didn't want him to lose his place in the national team.
"Steve was quite confident about that, so it doesn't matter where he plays because I asked Micah as well and he told me he couldn't care less."
