Manchester City's hopes of clinching a deal to sign Juventus defender Georgio Chiellini have been given a boost by the news that Claudio Ranieri would sanction the move.
The Juve coach would be happy for the Under-21 captain to move to Eastlands, but only for a fee in the region of £7million.
"He is an important player, but if he does want to leave then we surely won't keep him against his will," said Ranieri.
"It will depend on him, Manchester City and Juventus."
City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson could face competition from Liverpool for the 22-year-old's signature.
Eriksson has already signed Martin Petrov, Rolando Bianchi, Gelson Fernandes and Geovanni since taking charge at Eastlands earlier this summer.
He is also being linked with Mexico striker Nery Castillo.
