Sven-Goran Eriksson will leave his post as Manchester City manager next week, according to reports.
The former England manager is currently away on the club's post-season tour to the Far East but will be given a £1million pay-off on his return to Manchester.
Eriksson's future at the City of Manchester Stadium has been open to intense speculation after owner Thaksin Shinawatra revealed he was planning to review the management structure in place at the club following a disappointing second half to the Premier League season.
Several high-profile names, including that of recently sacked Chelsea boss Avram Grant, have been linked with the potential vacancy at Eastlands since the former Thai prime minister revealed his dissatisfaction last month.
The Citizens slipped from the UEFA Cup qualifying places to a ninth-placed finish in the Premier League in Eriksson's first season in charge.
The Swede has subsequently been linked with the managerial vacancy at his former club Benfica and also a job with the Mexico national side.
His long-time number two Tord Grip and assistant first-team coach Hans Backe are also expected to leave should Eriksson be replaced.
