Sven future in fresh doubt

Manchester City owner Thaksin Shinawatra is reported to have placed manager Sven-Goran Eriksson's future in further doubt by refusing to confirm his position for next season.
Recent rumours have suggested that Luiz Felipe Scolari was being lined up to take over at Eastlands and Shinawatra has done nothing to put a dampener on such speculation.
He told reporters during a trip to Dubai: "There are no plans at the moment. We will have to evaluate at the end of the season."
For the record, City's head of communications, Paul Tyrrell, said earlier this week: "The chairman made it clear recently that he was happy with the progress made and that a top-ten finish was his target this season.
"Our win at Sunderland equals the club's best points tally in Premier League history and with four games to go everybody remains focussed on continuing the dramatic progress we have made."
Meanwhile, City striker Georgios Samaras has ruled out a return to the club next season, with the Greece international currently on loan at Celtic.
He commented: "All I know is I won't be going back to Manchester City. That is for sure. I don't want to go back there.
"After the summer we will sit round the table and see what happens. Staying at Celtic is my first choice, but only time will tell."
