Sven eyes high-class arrivals
24 Apr 2008 - 16:36:01
Manchester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has sets his sights on signing world-class players to move the club forward next season.
The Citizens have been linked with the likes of Barcelona's Ronaldinho and Werder Bremen's Diego in recent weeks and the Swede clearly wants to splash the cash to improve his squad.
"I haven't spoken to Dr Thaksin (Shinawatra) yet, but hopefully I will do during the weekend," Eriksson confirmed. "I want to speak to him about the future of the club as it is important.
"In general, if we are going to sign players for next season they must be world-class players.
"We have a very good team, but if we want to go one step further we have to bring in top-class players."
Meanwhile, Eriksson has been forced to recall young defender Shaleum Logan for his loan spell with Stockport County due to injuries.
"I spoke to him this morning and he's happy to be back here," Eriksson added. "It is unfortunate for Stockport but we had no choice.
"After the game against Portsmouth we had only three fit defenders and he is our player and we had to bring him back."
