Manchester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has thanked his backroom staff after being named as the Premier League Manager of the Month for August.
The former England head coach has enjoyed a superb start to life at Eastlands, winning his first three league games, including a 1-0 derby triumph over Manchester United.
A 1-0 loss at Arsenal ended the Citizens' 100 per cent record, before Eriksson's side started September with a reverse at Blackburn Rovers.
Eriksson told his club's official website: "I'm honoured to get this award. We had a good start, but after receiving an award like this it's a must to thank the staff around me and the players.
"There's a lot of work gone behind the scenes here, but it's an honour and I'm very happy about it.
"As I have said before, this is the best league in the world and if you want to compete with other managers, then you have to do so here."
Of England defender Micah Richards' nomination as the Premier League Player of the Month, the Swede added: "I think he deserves his award more than mine, because he has been absolutely fantastic.
"I don't think anyone could argue with his award over the way he has played for us, 19 years old and playing so well for both City and England has been a great effort by him."
