Former England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson has reportedly agreed a three-year contract to become the new manager of Manchester City.
The 59-year-old Swede is expected to take up his new post once the takeover of City by former Thai prime minister, Thaksin Shinawatra, is confirmed.
Eriksson has been out of work since leaving his England post a year ago, following the World Cup finals in Germany, but is now expected to succeed Stuart Pearce in the City hot-seat.
He enjoyed success during his previous club managerial jobs with IFK Gothenburg, Benfica, AS Roma, Sampdoria and Lazio.
Earlier reports suggested that Eriksson had already made moves to bring in Sweden's assistant manager, Roland Andersson, as his number two at Eastlands.
Andersson commented: "I have a fantastic job as Sweden's assistant coach.
"I have informed Sweden coach Lars Lagerback and the people at the FA that I have had this conversation with Sven.
"But, as long as there is no concrete offer to take into consideration, there is nothing to discuss."
