Spain are to blame for David Silva's slow start at Manchester City, says boss Roberto Mancini

Yet to flourish: Silva Roberto Mancini has blamed David Villa's international commitments for his slow start in a Manchester City shirt. The Italian is giving David Villa time to come to terms with the Barclays Premier League - but he is confident his £24million summer signing will come good. After travelling to Mexico and Spain to compete in two friendlies with the world champions in the past month, Mancini says the 24-year-old will benefit from time spent with his parent club. 'The thing with Silva is that we have been able to work with himonly a couple of days at a time since he arrived,' the Italian said. 'He had just signed for us when he went off with his national teamto play in Mexico [during the August international break]. Then he cameback and very quickly was off again with the national team again, thistime to play in Argentina - another long trip. 'I thought he did very well when he came on [against BlackburnRovers] but I always said that he would need time because it is verydifferent here than playing in Spain. 'The internationals are over now and I think it will be time for him to play in the team from the next game,' he said. After making just one league start against Spurs, Silva has found himself on the periphery thanks to the stellar form of Adam Johnson and James Milner and has made two substitute appearances against Sunderland and Blackburn in the top flight.  Given will not be handed Europa League chance by City boss ManciniMan City keeper Joe has Hart to own up following blunder in Blackburn drawMANCHESTER CITY FC
