Samaras set for City exit
29 Aug 2007 - 14:07:53
Manchester City striker Georgios Samaras is reportedly set to join Middlesbrough before the transfer window closes on Friday.
The 22-year-old Greece international has been linked with a £3million move to the Riverside stadium after failing to impress new boss Sven-Goran Eriksson following his arrival at the club earlier in the summer.
Samaras cost City £5.5million from Dutch club Heerenveen just 18 months ago but has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League.
The tall frontman netted just 11 times in 59 appearances for the Citizens and has been deemed surplus to requirements by Eriksson.
Samaras has been left out of the squad that has travelled to Bristol City for Wednesday's Carling Cup second round tie at Ashton Gate.
Meanwhile, Italian striker Bernardo Corradi was also omitted from the travelling party and also looks to be heading out of the City of Manchester Stadium.
Eriksson has been linked with moves for Bolton Wanderers striker Nicolas Anelka and unsettled Brazil international Adriano from Internazionale in recent weeks.
