Samaras: No unrest at City

Manchester City striker Georgios Samaras has rubbished rumours claiming manager Stuart Pearce has lost the dressing room.

The Greece international netted twice as City lifted the pressure on Pearce with a 2-0 home win against West Ham United on Saturday.

He expected to see praise for City's display in the Sunday papers, but instead read reports claiming the club's senior players were unhappy with Pearce because they felt he did not give Ben Thatcher enough support in the wake of his horror challenge on Portsmouth's Pedro Mendes.

A bemused Samaras told the Manchester Evening News: "We are a family in the dressing room.

"The mentality of the players is excellent. We have a lot of talent and we help one another.

"We know we must improve on our results and we are determined to do so together."
