Ronaldo on comeback trail
07 Oct 2008 - 08:24:46
Reported Manchester City transfer target Ronaldo is expected to be back in action within a month following a career-threatening knee injury.
The Brazil striker has been linked with a move to Eastlands despite being out of action since rupturing knee ligaments while playing for AC Milan in February.
The 32-year-old is out of contract and has been training with Brazilian club Flamengo whose physio, Bruno Mazziotti, believes he is close to making a competitive return.
Speaking last month, Ronaldo claimed a move to England with City was "a big possibility".
"Because of Ronaldo's dedication, the recovery period has been shortened," Mazziotti told SporTV.
"He has been following a treatment for almost eight months and now he is the final stage of the recovery.
"Clinically, he has fully recovered since August 15. We remain optimistic about his return to football action as soon as possible.
"The prediction depends on a number of factors but we think that, within one month or maybe less, he will be able to play again."
