Robinho trip pleases Hughes

Manchester City boss Mark Hughes has praised Robinho's attempt to immerse himself in the city's culture by using public transport.

The British transfer record £32million Brazilian stunned passengers on a bus earlier in the week when he climbed aboard for a shopping trip to the Trafford Centre.

Robinho was surprisingly handed the captain's armband by Hughes for last weekend's 2-2 draw with Hull City and the City chief believes the former Real Madrid star is settling in well to life in Manchester.

"It shows he's in touch and is quite prepared to put himself at the mercy of public transport some people would say!" he told the club's official website.

"Good luck to him and he's getting to know the town and what better way get to know it than to jump on a local bus.

"I think he's trying to integrate himself in to the whole of life around Manchester and credit to him.

"The best way to really get to know the language and the people where you live is to jump in with two feet and immerse yourself in what goes on around here."
