Robinho stay pleases Hughes
12 Dec 2009 - 10:39:40
Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has welcomed comments from Brazilian ace Robinho ruling out a move away from Eastlands in the near future.
The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a return to Spain to join Barcelona, having made just a handful of appearances for City this term due to injury problems.
Hughes told reporters: "I know Robi's feelings. He is very happy around the place and with life in Manchester. He always has a smile on his face.
"He is playing alongside good players in a good team. He knows he can be successful with the club and the players that are here already.
"He likes the way we play and wants to be a part of that.
"Robi was frustrated earlier in the season because he wasn't playing. Now he is playing perhaps people will start speaking about his performances."
Robinho had earlier told BBC's Football Focus: "I am very happy at Manchester City and I intend to continue playing here for a long time.
"My focus is with Manchester City. There will always be speculation but I am very happy and so are my family. I hope to continue playing here.
"I am enjoying playing English football. It is very beautiful. With every game I play I feel more comfortable. I hope to continue playing football in England for a long time."
