Robinho shuns Santos rumours
01 Jun 2009 - 12:18:50
Manchester City's record signing Robinho has dismissed rumours suggesting that he could look to head home to Brazil this summer.
The 25-year-old forward netted 15 goals in his first season with the Citizens, having moved to England in a £32.5million deal from Real Madrid just under a year ago.
However, the president of another of his former clubs, Santos, had suggested that Robinho was unhappy at Eastlands and could opt for a South American return.
"Santos are the team of my heart and one day I want to go back, but not now," Robinho told the Manchester Evening News.
"I am very happy with the affection demonstrated by the fans in the final match against Bolton.
"I am very happy and proud to play in a club that has such wonderful followers."
Meanwhile, City boss Mark Hughes has played down talk of an exodus of players from his squad this summer.
He added: "What we intend to do this summer is add real quality to the first team and some depth that will make the squad better as a whole.
"I certainly will not be letting players go until I am satisfied we have the right depth and the right quality."
