Manchester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson is in no doubt that Micah Richards will pen a contract extension with the club.
Reports suggest the 19-year-old England international has turned down a new contract offer from the club, but Eriksson cannot understand where those rumours have come from.
The former England boss told the Manchester Evening News: "I do not know how close it is but sooner or later it will happen, I am quite sure about that.
"Micah is under contract until 2010, so he has plenty of time to sign. He will sign, I just don't know when."
The teenager has already made 61 appearances for City and has even captained the club this term.
Meanwhile, Eriksson is set to give Swedish goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson his first start of the season in Wednesday's Carling Cup clash at Bolton Wanderers.
Kasper Schmeichel and Joe Hart have played in goal for Eriksson's side this season while Isaksson's time at City has been plagued by a succession of injuries.
