Richards rejects rift reports

Manchester City defender Micah Richards claims reports of a training ground bust-up with manager Mark Hughes have been blown out of all proportion.

Richards was reported to have been involved in an angry exchange with his manager in the build-up to Saturday's 2-1 victory over Everton.

The England defender started the game at Goodison Park and claims stories of a major rift between the pair have been exaggerated.

"What happened was blown out of all proportion, but the result and performance will say enough - that was key," he told the club's official website.

"There's absolutely no problem between me and the gaffer. We're both winners and want the club to progress and be successful.

"It was more passion than anything and was a misunderstanding."

Meanwhile, Richards has played down a knee problem which forced him off in the second half at the weekend.

He added: "It's sore but touch wood it's nothing serious."
