Manchester City defender Micah Richards is hoping to be fit for Saturday's Premier League clash with Blackburn Rovers.
The defender missed England Under-21s' European Championship qualifying double header against Portugal and Lithuania with a chest infection.
However, after leaving the international camp to recover at home in Manchester, Richards is optimistic about being fit enough to face Rovers at Eastlands.
"I really felt under the weather but I do feel a lot better now. I was coughing and being sick," he told the club's official website.
"I trained yesterday and felt better. Hopefully, I'll be okay for the weekend. I can't wait to get back on a pitch."
Speaking about his early-season form and making the right-back berth his own, he added: "I'm happy with my form, but I was gutted to give away the penalty at Sunderland (a 1-0 defeat).
"I think he would have scored anyway. But it was annoying for it to be in the last minute after I'd done alright."
