Manchester City have agreed to release Claudio Reyna from his contract with the midfielder expected to return to the US with MLS side New York Red Bulls.
Reyna, 33, had asked City to release him early from his contract due to personal reasons.
The former USA international hasn't featured for first-team since December and will reportedly sign for the New York club in time for the start of the MLS season in April.
Reyna joined City for £2.5million in August 2003 from Sunderland and made 85 appearances for Stuart Pearce's side.
Earlier in the week, Pearce said: "We are speaking with his (Reyna's) representatives about the termination of his contract.
"It is to do with family reasons, nothing sinister. I can understand the reasons he gave to me.
"He believes his family has to come before his professional career at this stage.
"It is a case of working out a deal agreeable to player and club."
