Rested Richards set to play
10 Sep 2008 - 11:29:18
Micah Richards could feature in the Manchester City team that faces Chelsea at Eastlands this weekend, according to boss Mark Hughes.
Richards had to be substituted in the 3-0 win at Sunderland after colliding with team-mate Joe Hart, but the international break has allowed the 20-year-old defender sufficient time to recover.
Hughes says: "Micah's had the shoulder looked at, he's had treatment and we'll look at it again nearer the day - but we're hopeful.
"He'll be a little sore for a while, he's damaged the cup of the shoulder, but if the pain is manageable then he'll be able to take part.
"A bit of adrenalin can get you through, but the size of this game is a big attraction and there's a huge number of guys here that don't want to miss out."
However, Martin Petrov looks set to be an absentee against last season's Premier League runners-up after jarring his knee in the UEFA Cup win over FC Midtjylland.
Hughes added: "Unfortunately the likelihood is that Martin will miss out. Chelsea is probably a week too soon for him but we're hopeful that he'll be back for Portsmouth."
