Petrov eyes regular City start
20 Oct 2009 - 11:28:29
Winger Martin Petrov is determined to force his way into the starting line-up at Manchester City.
The Bulgaria international has started just two Premier League games this season, but boosted his selection chances with City's equaliser in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Wigan Athletic.
Petrov is back to full-fitness following a series of injury problems and is now hoping to hold down a regular starting place in manager Mark Hughes' side.
He explained: "I'm a professional football player and I want to show the manager that I'm in good form and that I should have a place in this team.
"I'm happy here and I want to continue here.
"I love the fans because they are all the time behind me when I'm injured and now in this difficult time for me.
"I say thank-you for that and the team really appreciate their support, especially in the very, very difficult game against Wigan when we were down to ten men for 20 to 25 minutes.
"They were our 12th man and they helped us win this point."
