Pele denies Robinho claims

Brazil legend Pele has denied alleging that Manchester City star Robinho had taken drugs. Earlier in the week, Robinho's advisors demanded a formal retraction following comments attributed to Pele in the Brazilian media that the 25-year-old had taken recreational drugs. The comments have caused a media storm in South America but Pele has moved to clarify his position by claiming he never made such allegations in an interview. "Robinho is our son and left Santos with our supervision," he said. "What happened was a misunderstanding because I never said anything like that. They gave him wrong information. "I know what the people who need to sell newspapers are like. "When there's a story like this you need to ask for the recording to hear what was really said."
