Patrick Vieira hopes to stay at Manchester City after triggering a one-year extension to his contract at Eastlands. The veteran French midfielder signed on a short-term deal from Inter Milan in January but struggled to make an impact after arriving from Italy with a calf injury. However, Vieira played enough games towards the end of the season to activate the offer of a new deal for next season, and talks are expected take place in the coming weeks.
