No City approach for Scolari

A spokesman for Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has cooled reports suggesting the Brazilian is on the verge of being unveiled as the new Manchester City manager.
Scolari has been tipped to replace Sven-Goran Eriksson at Eastlands before the start of next season, but Acaz Fellegger said: "Nobody has contacted Luiz Felipe Scolari.
"Just as has happened in the last two major international tournaments (Euro 2004 and 2006 World Cup), Scolari alone will decide his future after Euro 2008.
"Any club who has any interest in Scolari is completely free to contact the coach.
"But the truth is that there has been no approach and Scolari has repeatedly stated that his future will only be decided after the Euro tournament."
Scolari has been linked with the City post ever since club owner Thaksin Shinawatra queried Eriksson's efforts in his first season in charge at Eastlands and those rumours are now reaching a crescendo.
However, Eriksson has refused to be drawn into the growing media circus, instead focusing on the last game of the season against Middlesbrough.
He told the Manchester Evening News: "I don't know whether the players felt they had a point to prove to the owner or anyone else in the game at Liverpool.
"What I would say is that myself, the coaching staff and everyone who works at the Carrington training ground are a close unit and it has always been like that and I'm very proud of them and what we have achieved.
"This is not the toughest time I have had in football.
"Speculation in football, whether it is to do with managers, players, business or politics, is always there among fans today.
"All I want to see is another City win at Middlesbrough next Sunday, then it is the time for talking. I think it is always important in my job to behave in a proper way.
"Maybe people think I haven't always done that, but there are always excuses to behave badly if you choose to and I don't."
