Midfielder Vincent Kompany has signed a new five-year contract with Manchester City.
The 23-year-old Belgium international joined City from Hamburg in August 2008 but had been linked with a January move to Barcelona of late.
However, Kompany is delighted to have pledged his future to Mark Hughes' side until 2014.
"In the end you just don't pay attention to the speculation," he told the club's official website. "City's ambitions are my ambitions and I want to be one of the main players in a very big team."
Kompany has made 34 Premier League appearances for the Citizens, scoring one goal. He is currently out of the City starting line-up following a summer knee operation.
"He was one of our most reliable performers last season and it is great that we have been able to secure his services for the next five years," said Hughes.
"It is another sign of our commitment to young talent. Vincent is a big part of our future."
