Manchester City have rewarded Michael Johnson for his impressive start to the season with a new four-year contract.
The 19-year-old midfielder has broken into the first team following Sven-Goran Eriksson's appointment as manager earlier in the summer and scored a spectacular winner against Derby County at Eastlands two weeks ago.
Johnson was also called up to the England Under-21 squad by former City boss Stuart Pearce to cap a dream start to the new campaign for the Manchester-born youngster.
The graduate of the club's academy system made his first-team debut last October but has made the central midfield berth his own with a string of impressive performances since Eriksson took charge.
Meanwhile, teenage defender Shaleum Logan has also committed himself to the club by signing a new three year deal.
"In awarding new contracts to Michael and Shaleum we are once again demonstrating Manchester City's commitment to investing in our young, home grown players," chief executive Alistair Mackintosh told the club's official website.
"With a spine of hugely talented academy bred youngsters, we have made an excellent start to the season and are delighted to have secured the long term futures of both players at this football club."
