Manu return boosts Mancini
29 Mar 2010 - 12:02:34
Roberto Mancini is hoping the return of Emmanuel Adebayor from suspension will boost Manchester City's top four chances.
Sixth-placed City have been without their nine-goal striker for their last four games after his red card for violent conduct during last month's 3-1 FA Cup fifth-round replay defeat to Stoke City.
City currently trail Tottenham and Liverpool in the race for Champions League football next season but, with Adebayor set to return to action against Wigan Athletic on Monday evening, Mancini is hoping for a timely boost.
"We have missed Emmanuel a lot and his return will give us a major boost for the run-in," he told the club's official website.
"If we can play with Manu and Carlos (Tevez) for the remaining matches, I think we'll be fine as they seem to have a very good understanding."
Speaking about City's top-four chances, Mancini added: "I believe all the teams around us have a number of difficult games during the next month and for that reason, anything could happen.
"We are all fighting for one position and for me it is vital we forget the Everton match (2-0 defeat) and move on - that's how we work."
