Mancini welcomes three points
01 Feb 2010 - 07:48:06
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini was happy with the result rather than the performance after his side edged to a 2-0 victory over rock-bottom Portsmouth.
Goals from Emmanuel Adebayor and Vincent Kompany were enough to see off Pompey at Eastlands, despite City looking slightly jaded from their midweek Carling Cup exertions against Manchester United.
Mancini admitted: "I thought that today was a difficult game and I am happy for the win. I am also happy for a clean sheet, which was important, but I didn't like the game. But the most important thing was to win.
"It is a good position we are in, but it is not important to be there now, but to be there at the end of the season.
"Physically we were probably a bit tired after the Manchester United game last Wednesday.
"There are three or four teams who are pushing for fourth spot and we will keep fighting until the end of the season to get it."
