    Mancini revels in City victory

    24 Aug 2010 - 07:43:24

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini was pleased to see his side land their first Premier League win of the campaign as they thumped Liverpool 3-0 on Monday evening.

Gareth Barry opened the scoring at the City of Manchester Stadium before Carlos Tevez was adjudged to have flicked Micah Richards' header past goalkeeper Jose Reina.

The Argentina international slotted home a penalty after the excellent Adam Johnson was felled by Martin Skrtel and City's Italian tactician now wants to see the progress, but he has refused to talk up their title chances at this early stage.

"I don't know," Mancini told Sky Sports.

"I think that, for us, it's important to improve game after game because I think we need to gel and we need time to become a strong squad."

Meanwhile, club owner Sheikh Mansour paid his first visit to Eastlands and Mancini was delighted is players secured the win with him in attendance.

Mancini added: "He was here and it's the first time. I think it is a fantastic night for and I'm very happy for everything.

"I think it's very important the mentality. If the squad has got a good mentality, then you can beat anyone."
