Mancini laughs off Veron talk
10 Jan 2010 - 15:10:11
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has laughed off reports suggesting Juan Sebastian Veron will be following Patrick Vieira to Eastlands.
Mancini played with the 34-year-old Argentina international during their time together at Sampdoria and Lazio but the City manager has no plans for a reunion.
The former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder is settled in his homeland with Estudiantes with Mancini confirming to City's official website: "Veron is my friend.
"I played with him at Sampdoria and at Lazio and when I was the manager at Inter he played for me.
"I called him just to say hello and, as we talked, I joked with Seba, 'If you want, you can come to play for City', but I was only joking and he knew that. He plays for Estudiantes and is very happy there. It was never a possibility for us."
Meanwhile, Felipe Caicedo, who had been linked with a temporary switch to Hull City, has joined Spanish club Malaga on loan for the rest of the season.
The 21-year-old Ecuador striker spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Sporting Lisbon.
