Mancini: Adebayor is not for sale
01 Jun 2010 - 08:44:28
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has dismissed reports that Emmanuel Adebayor could be on his way out of Eastlands this summer.
The Togo international has emerged as a possible transfer target for AC Milan in recent days, but Mancini claims he has no plans to sell the striker who City paid £25million to sign from Arsenal 12 months ago.
Adebayor scored 14 goals in 31 appearances in his debut season at the City of Manchester Stadium.
"It is important to remember the squad we have is improving and most of the players have not been here for a long time," he told the club's official website.
"The club has had no offers from any club for any of our players.
"In Emmanuel's case, he is a top player who can score lots of goals for Manchester City.
"I know he can improve and I am looking forward to working with him in pre-season."
Meanwhile, Mancini has revealed he is working with club officials to supplement a squad which finished fifth in the Premier League last season.
He explained: "We know the players who we are interested in. It is a small list of names, because I only want to bring in players who will improve the team.
"Of course we have various options and it is not easy and it is not always possible to do things quickly.
"We must be patient and do the right things at the right time in the market.
"We know the value of the players we are interested in and will not be forced into paying more than we want to."
