Manchester City eye up deal for Alvaro Negredo
Manchester City are interested in signing Sevilla's Spain striker Alvaro Negredo, according to the BBC.
Negredo, 27, is rated at £24m by Sevilla, but City are hoping for a cheaper deal for the Spaniard.
Atletico Madrid were in the hunt for Negredo, but new City boss Manuel Pellegrini has identified Negredo as the forward to fill the void left by Carlos Tevez, who joined Juventus earlier this month.
Everton and West Ham were also interested, but the striker proved too expensive for both clubs in January.
Fernandinho and Jesus Navas have already arrived from Shakhtar Donetsk and Sevilla this summer, with City looking to strengthen the squad that lost the Premier League title to Manchester United last season.
Manchester City have also been linked with Benfica's Oscar Cardozo as they try to bolster their attacking options after also selling Mario Balotelli to AC Milan in January.
Sergio Aguero has agreed a long-term deal to remain at the Etihad, whilst it is believed Pellegrini is keen to work with Edin Dzeko, who struggled under his Roberto Mancini last season, before making a decision on the Bosnian's future.
