Manchester City closing in on 30m January move for long-term target Dzeko

City's target man: Dzeko is expected to cost the club £30million Manchester City were last night intalks with Edin Dzeko's agent overthe fine details of a £30million transferfrom German club Wolfsburg. Sportsmail understands that Wolfsburghave finally been persuaded totalk over a deal that would include adown payment of €35m (£30m) aswell as some performance-relatedadd-ons. The deal is not yet set in stone andcannot be completed until the transferwindow opens next week acrossEurope. However, the fact thatDzeko's agent recently a guest ofCity at the Manchester derby hastravelled to England for talks is indicativeof how confident City are ofcompleting what is likely be the biggesttransfer of January. City tried all last summer to sign thegiant Bosnian striker but werethwarted by the huge fee placed onhis head by the Bundesliga club thatis owned by car giants Volkswagen. Indeed, as recently as last week, Citywere being told they would have topay £38m for him. However, City coach Roberto Mancinihas implored the board at Eastlandsto do all they can to sign aplayer he feels could make the differencebetween winning the BarclaysPremier League and finishing in thetop four.
