Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini praises 'world class' Carlos Tevez

Roberto Mancini last night thanked Carlos Tevez for giving him a perfect start as Manchester City manager, describing the Argentina striker as 'world-class'. Tevez has scored three times in Mancini's first two games since the Italian succeeded Mark Hughes a fortnight ago, taking his total for December to eight. Mancini said: 'I do not like to pick put individuals because we've been collectively very good in the two games we have won against Stoke and Wolves, but Carlos Tevez has been outstanding. Top form: Carlos Tevez 'He is a world-class striker who has shown that he is in top form.' Mancini also praised Shay Given, rating him as one of the top five goalkeepers in the world as City prepare to face Middlesbrough today, and added: 'I have been really pleased with the way the players have responded since I arrived.' Speaking about his attitude towards the FA Cup, Mancini said: 'It is a big competition, one of the most famous domestic cups in the world and one that is loved by the fans.
