And that verdict comes from a man who Joe Mercer, the greatest Blues manager of them all, called the ?final piece in the jigsaw? in 1968. Francis Lee was on Thursday night inaugurated into the National Football Museum?s Hall of Fame and now he feels that Balotelli could be the man to complete Roberto Mancini?s jigsaw. The £25m striker has been injured since making a goalscoring debut as a substitute away to Timisoara last month and is due back towards the end of next month after a knee operation. And Lee, still an occasional visitor to Eastlands, can?t wait to see him. ?I am really looking forward to seeing the new guy Balotelli play,? Lee told M.E.N Sport. ?We need a big, powerful, strong centre-forward who can lead the line. ?If we get that, with all the talent around him, this team will take some holding. In the modern age, the lead striker is the fulcrum of  the team. ?The goalkeeper is the most important man but the team is dominated by the man who leads from the front and if you have a Torres or a Drogba you can build a team around him. ?Tevez is the perfect foil for a big, clever, quick player. If Balotelli comes in and moves people around, Tevez is the man who will use the gaps. It?s the perfect situation for Carlos ? I?ll bet he is rubbing his hands.? Lee says City?s wait to end the 34-year wait for a trophy is drawing to a close and that they will then swiftly bridge the 42-year gap from the last league title win. ?This team excites me, and Roberto has tied them up at the back, where they look a lot meaner,? he said. ?Of course, the test of that will come against Chelsea on Saturday ? if they don?t concede against them, the defensive plan is clearly working. ?It?s just a matter of time before City win something, and then carry on winning things.? And Lee, on accepting the inauguration, paid tribute to the team-mates with whom he won the league, FA Cup, European Cup Winners? Cup and League Cup in the space of three seasons. ?It?s an honour for the club as well, and for the players I played with, because you are only as good as the team around you,? he said. ?I was very lucky to play with a lot of players who are already in the Hall of Fame, at club and international level, and looking down the list makes you realise what an honour it is. ?There are some wonderful names in there and it makes me realise how lucky I was to play in an era when football was really fun.? Do you agree with Lee? Have your say.| Submit Comments| Comments (75)| Printable VersionAdd A CommentEnter your comments:Sending
