Manchester City manager Kevin Keegan believes the signing of Trevor Sinclair can give his side more options.
The West ham and England star has agreed a four-year deal with City and is expected to complete his £2.5million switch on Monday when he undergoes a medical.
"I will be delighted if the deal goes through. In Trevor Sinclair we will have an England international at the peak of his career," Keegan told the club's official website.
"He can play left side wide, right side wide and up front so he will strengthen us and give us options.
"Trevor did not take too much convincing. He is a Manchester lad, born in London but brought up in the city and hopefully he will now have plenty of time to get to know his new team-mates prior to our competitive games.
"I tried to sign Trevor when I was at Newcastle, it didn't come off and now ten years later I am still thrilled to have him."
