Manchester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has admitted that he might be forced to leave the club to gain a regular first-team spot.

The 21-year-old Dane has made only a handful of appearances for the Citizens to date and is currently out on loan at Coventry City, having also enjoyed a spell with Cardiff City earlier this season.

Schmeichel told The Sun: "I am going to have a word with City to see what is going on.

"It might be that I will have to leave, because Joe Hart is playing brilliantly and it is not the best for me.

"It's no fun when you are training and preparing for a game all week, then you warm up before the match and just sit there on the bench.

"I have three years left on my contract, but I have a buy-out clause if the worst does come to the worst.

"If I don't think there is any chance at all for me at City, then I might have to look at something else."
