    Johnson blow worries Sven

    27 Dec 2007 - 10:18:28

Manchester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson remains concerned that England Under-21s midfielder Michael Johnson is still struggling with an abdominal injury.

The 19-year-old was a key performer for the Citizens in the opening couple of months of the season, but has been forced on to the sidelines by two separate injuries and an operation in recent weeks.

Eriksson said: "Michael has had a scan and the specialists say where he was operated on is not a problem, because this injury is higher up.

"But yes, we are a bit worried that it came back and we hope it will not be there for long.

"Probably he cannot play two games a week yet. Instead, he has to work more on core stability and things like that."

Johnson scored crucial winning goals against both Derby County and Aston Villa earlier on in the campaign, but has not featured since the Carling Cup defeat by Spurs in mid-December.
