Manchester City goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson faces a month on the sidelines after sustaining a hairline fracture of the thumb.
City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson is already looking to bring in a new shot-stopper after second-choice keeper Joe Hart was also forced to miss Saturday's Thomas Cook Trophy match against Valencia through injury.
Eriksson told the club's official website: "Unfortunately we had two goalkeepers get injured within two days.
"Joe Hart should be back training on Tuesday or Wednesday, a maximum of a week.
"Isaksson is worse though, the medical staff say he will be away for four weeks.
"It's not the best way to start the Premier League, and starting with two very young goalkeepers.
"We will look at it on Monday. Unfortunately it's more or less a must that we bring another keeper in."
Sweden international Isaksson has endured a frustrating time since his transfer from Rennes last summer.
The 25-year-old made only 14 appearances for City last term.
