Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has confirmed that nine players will not be handed contracts for the new season. They include four senior players, one of whom, Jihai Sun, has already agreed a switch to Sheffield United. Paul Dickov, Geovanni and Emile Mpenza have also been told their futures lie away from Eastlands. Geovanni has been linked with Hull City while Dickov could join Blackpool on a permanent basis. Mpenza has attracted interest from Premier League and Championship clubs. Garry Breen, who has signed for Hereford United, Michael Daly, Filippo Mancini, Ashley Grimes and Christian Mouritsen have also been released. Grimes has agreed a contract with Millwall.
