Manchester City boss Mark Hughes is hopeful that star striker Robinho will be back in action very soon, having suffered an ankle injury in the 3-0 win over Arsenal.
The 24-year-old Brazilian was injured in trying to score his second goal of the game against the Gunners at Eastlands, but Hughes doesn't believe that the South American has done any significant damage.
He commented: "Hopefully it is not going to compromise Robinho for too long.
"He has just gone over on his ankle. It's one that is initially very sore, but it should settle down quickly and we do not anticipate that there will be any long-term damage.
"We hope he will be okay, if not for Thursday then certainly for the derby."
Hughes went on to praise the efforts of Stephen Ireland, who scored the opening goal against Arsenal to take his tally for the season to seven.
The Welshman added: "Given the energy Stephen has and the timing of his runs, it would not surprise me if he gets into double figures.
"He has that drive and purpose to his play. He is having an exceptional season and the key is for him to stay consistent. There is no reason why he can't do that."
