Hughes fears for Bellamy
02 Apr 2009 - 13:50:53
Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy is unlikely to have recovered from a knee injury in time to face Arsenal on Saturday.
Bellamy sustained the problem while training with Wales as John Toshack's side prepared for Wednesday's World Cup qualifier against Germany.
City boss Mark Hughes admitted: "There's a bit of an issue with his knee. We'll have a look at it and we'll see, but he's a big doubt for the weekend."
Robinho should be available for the weekend clash though despite hobbling out of Brazil's victory against Peru.
Hughes added: "We've had a message back from Brazil that he should be OK."
Meanwhile, of his side's poor form away from Eastlands, Hughes said: "Away wins have been a struggle in the Premier League, though not in Europe.
"But we're stronger now than we were in the first half of the season, and the players coming back will supplement the team."
Martin Petrov, Danny Sturridge, Benjani and Michael Johnson are all close to a first-team return following injuries although they are unlikely to feature against the Gunners.
