Hughes certain of success

Manchester City boss Mark Hughes is confident the club have plans in place to ensure success is forthcoming. The takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group last summer has rocketed expectations at Eastlands. City have already significantly bolstered their squad, including Robinho's arriving from Real Madrid for a British record fee, as they look to match their growing ambitions. After a difficult start to the season, Hughes' men find themselves in the quarter-finals of the Uefa Cup and also in the hunt for a top-seven finish in the Premier League. Hughes is said to have held talks with chairman Garry Cook and club officials this week, and has been encouraged by the discussions over City's future. Future "I've been very impressed by what I've been hearing," Hughes told the Daily Star. "The plans in place for the future will ensure that when success comes - and it will - it will be here for a long time. "I'm very impressed by how much progress has already been made throughout the club. It's been a huge year for everybody at the club. "There have been brave changes when we could have pottered around and remained as we were. But in the end we wouldn't have been able to sustain any success we had. "The way the club is now, the structure and the people in key positions, the club can only get better. It is being driven with pace."
